A condition where the force of blood against artery walls is too high, making the heart work harder and potentially damaging blood vessels over time that called as High blood pressure. the pressure on blood vessels is more than 120/80, can be identified as ‘high blood pressure’.

It often develops over the years and does not show significant symptoms, that’s why it is known as the “silent killer”. However, when symptoms occur,

  • Difficulty breathing

  • Vomiting
  • Anxiety

  • noise of ears

There may be conditions like bleeding from the nose. If there are these symptoms, it is mandatory to check your blood pressure.

You must be treated by a doctor. Check BP regularly (home or clinic). Follow doctor’s advice – If BP is very high (usually ≥140/90 mmHg consistently), medicines may be needed. Never stop BP medicines suddenly without medical advice

Which type of food consume for prevent from Hypertension?

Use lime, garlic, pepper, cinnamon instead of too much salt. Replace pol roti with kurakkan roti or red rice. Drink herbal teas (ranawara, coriander, koththamalli) instead of sugary tea. Snack on fruits or boiled gram instead of biscuits and buns. Eating more vegetables. Use traditional rice like Pachchaparumal, Kalu heenati, maa Vee and kurulu thuda. Use of starchless vegetables such Gotu kola (Centella asiatica) Mukunuwenna (Alternanthera), Kathurumurunga leaves ,Drumstick , Kankun ,Cucumber ,Tomato ,Carrot (in moderation – has some natural sugar) ,Beans (long beans, green beans) ,Snake gourd (pathola), Ridge gourd (wetakolu) , Bitter gourd (karavila) ,Brinjal (eggplant), Cabbage, Cauliflower, Capsicum (bell pepper), Radish, Okra (ladies’ fingers) Use fruits like Banana, papaya, orange and guava. • Lifestyle Habits

  • Get enough sleep – 7–8 hours daily.
